Unique 3D city model
All buildings in Denmark (> 2.2 million) have for the first time been produced as a country wide, three dimensional map
The unique 3D building model provides new opportunities for the public debate about the planning of our cities and the open countryside. New projects like single buildings, build up areas, wind mills or highways can be integrated in the digital model. In this way it will be much easier to see the impact on the existing environment if the construction is realized. Furthermore alternatives in 3D can be presented as part of the public debate.
The 3D building model is a result of many months of software development within BlomInfo. The basic data input is our country wide Digital Elevation Model, building footprints and oblique images. The production is fully automated. This means, that Blom can carry out similar projects all over the world where the basic data input is available.
Many Danish municipalities have already made agreements with BlomInfo to use the 3D model.
The content and the scope of the project - all of Denmark in 3D - is unique because it consists of all buildings, not only part of city areas but also buildings in the country side. We have estimated that a similar project using standard photogrammetric methods would require 25 staff approximately 12 years to produce.
